Losing a tooth affects far more than your smile. Chewing becomes harder, neighbouring teeth drift, and the jawbone under the gap slowly shrinks. Dental implants are the only replacement that solves all three problems, which is why they have become the standard of care worldwide, including here in Egypt.
What is a dental implant?
An implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Titanium is biocompatible, so bone grows around it and locks it in place. A custom crown is then attached to the post, giving you a fixed tooth that looks and works like the original.
Who is a good candidate?
Most healthy adults with a missing tooth can have an implant. We look at three things: enough bone to hold the post, healthy gums, and general health that allows normal healing. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medications can slow healing, so tell your dentist about your full medical history.
If bone has shrunk, you are not automatically excluded. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can rebuild the support needed, and a 3D scan shows us exactly what your case requires.
Step 1: Consultation and 3D planning
At Waly Dental Clinic every implant case starts with a clinical exam and a CBCT (3D) scan. The scan lets us measure bone height and width, locate nerves and sinuses, and plan the exact position and angle of the implant before we touch anything.
You leave this visit with a written treatment plan and a fixed quote. In Egypt, cost depends mainly on the implant brand, the number of implants and whether grafting is needed, so a proper scan is the only honest way to price your treatment.
Step 2: Placing the implant
Implant placement is done under local anaesthesia and usually takes 45 to 60 minutes for a single tooth. Most patients are surprised at how comfortable it is; many describe it as easier than the extraction that came before. You can drive home and return to light work the next day.

Step 3: Healing and osseointegration
Over the next two to four months the bone fuses with the titanium surface, a process called osseointegration. During this time you eat normally on the other side, and if the gap is visible we can fit a temporary tooth so you never go without a smile.
Step 4: The final crown
Once the implant is stable, we take a digital impression and the dental laboratory creates a porcelain crown matched to the shade and shape of your natural teeth. The crown is attached, the bite is checked, and you are done.
Aftercare: making your implant last decades
- Brush twice daily and clean around the implant with floss or interdental brushes.
- Keep your six-monthly checkups so we can monitor the bone and gum around the implant.
- Avoid smoking, which is the single biggest risk factor for implant failure.
- Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth, to protect the crown.
With good hygiene and regular checkups, dental implants have success rates above 95% and can last a lifetime.
